2 Spaniards and the Mackenzie River - Mission Accomplished

Over the last two years along with Jackson Kayaks, Kokatat Watersports Wear and JK dealer Undercurrents in Calgary, AB I have helped support some very adventurous paddlers from Spain.  Carlos A. and Carlos R. There most recent adventure took them to the Mackenzie River, the largest and longest river system in Canada.  The 2 Carlo's paddled 1950 km (over 1200 miles) in 42 days starting on the Great Slave Lake and ending in the Beaufort Sea.

During there adventure they paddled in all types of water conditions, saw wildlife, fished to their hearts content and experienced the awesome beauty of endless days in the North.  In addition there was the unforgettable Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights.

Do not underestimate the Jackson Kayak Journeys!

Last summer I received an email from James McBeath, the marketing director at Jackson Kayaks about 2 Spaniards coming to Western Canada who had some paddling plans.  They needed boats - Jackson Kayak Journeys to be exact.  Could I help them out?  Thanks to our Calgary, AB dealer, Undercurrents we were able to hook paddlers, Carlos Ares & Carlos Rodríguez up with 2 Journeys.

Alder Creek Canoe and Kayak - Free Spring Paddle Festival - April 28 & 29

Join us THIS Saturday and Sunday (April 28 & 29) at Vancouver Lake with the crew at Alder Creek Canoe & Kayak for their FREE Spring Paddle Festival.

9 am to 4 pm for on water demos and clinics.

This is the best opportunity to test paddle new kayaks and canoes. Join manufacturer’s representatives and coaches for two days of test paddling, skills development and clinics, all for free. ($3 parking fee)

We will be there with Jackson Kayaks along with professional kayak angler, Drew Gregory.  Drew will offering 2 classes - Kayak Fishing 101 and Fishing on Rivers.  Try out our wildly popular Coosa Elite and Cuda fishing kayaks!

Saturday 11 am and 1 pm

Sunday 9:30 and 1:30

Directions from Portland: Take I-5 to Vancouver, exit on either Mill Plain or 4th Plain and go west. Mill Plain and 4th Plain merge into Lower River Road, Follow signs to Vancouver Lake.

Heading to Squamish, BC

This Sunday we will be on the water in beautiful Squamish, BC with Tyson Bell of Coast River Kayak and Valhalla Pure Outdoors Squamish in our Jackson Kayaks.

We are hoping for clear skies and possibly some warmer temperatures so we can get some photos and maybe even some videos!

Here's a great video of our popular Journey Series, best in class for light touring and it's got something for everyone.  The new paddler will enjoy it's stability and comfort while the more experienced paddler will appreciate it's nimble hull and response to more advanced skills like edging.
